Justin Simmons, a lifelong resident of Seattle City Council District 5, is running to represent you and all District 5 and Seattle residents. We hope you will join our campaign! Justin needs to qualify to use the Democracy Voucher Program, and you can help him in each of three different ways:

1.  by endorsing Justin (he needs your signature of support in order to qualify for program);

2. by making a donation of $10 to $300; and

3. by giving him the four democracy vouchers mailed to you (replacements available).

Vouch for Justin!

Please send the four vouchers mailed to you, using the enclosed pre-paid envelope, to the Seattle Ethics and Elections Commission. Alternatively, you can mail your vouchers to our campaign headquarters at Simmons for Seattle, 2518 S Brandon Ct, Seattle, WA, 98108; or find drop-off and electronic return methods at www.seattle.gov/democracyvoucher. How the program works

Assigning your democracy vouchers to Justin is another way of donating to his campaign. Candidates may use democracy vouchers to finance campaign activities and are held to the same City of Seattle campaign spending laws under the City's election code. Candidates participating in the Democracy Voucher Program must follow strict reporting guidelines to qualify for the program.

In addition to these laws, participating candidates may not use democracy vouchers to:

  • make cash payments;
  • reimburse contributors for their contributions;
  • pay the candidate a salary, or pay the candidate's personal expenses;
  • support the candidate in a campaign for a different office;
  • make contributions to other candidates or political committees; or
  • make payments to family members.
